Kate Langbroek hosts heartwarming new dating show My Mum Your Dad and viewers can expect a very exciting twist

If you're looking for a feel good dating show with an exciting twist, then My Mum Your Dad is for you.

The series follows single parents who are looking to find love again.

But while they think matchmakers are pulling the strings, the reality is that the matchmakers are their adult children who are secretly watching everything they're doing.

The first sneak peek of the new show – which you can watch above – host Kate Langbroek reveals the big part the kids will play in helping their parents find love.

"They have no idea who's really bringing their hearts together," the voice-over says as a group of young adults take their seats in a room.

"Welcome to the surveillance room," Kate announces before flicking on a wall of seven television screens.

Screams and gasps echo out around the room and it's clear these kids were not planning on being this involved in their parents' search for love.

"Oh my god this makes me extremely nervous," one girl says.

"They have no idea we're watching. No idea," another adds.

And it looks they might learn more about their mums and dads then they want to as well throughout the experience.

At one point in the clip a single dad makes a very bold confession to one single mum.

"I need that passion. I need that over the kitchen bench feel," he tells her.

We have a feeling this is not the kind of thing many children want to hear their parents saying – at all.

But while some moments might shock, others will pull at your heartstrings. 

"I feel like the 28 years of marriage, I was really a single mum. My heart got broken so bad," one of the mums says.

"I think it's going to take a very special person for me to feel safe again."

Meanwhile one of the adult boys watching on tears up while watching the screens, possibly reacting to something his mum or dad is saying.

Another dad also reveals his tragic past.

"My first love was probably my kid's mother. She played up with my best mate. I don't want to get hurt again," he says.

In the words of Kate, "For these single parents it's a new chance to feel love."

And it's a journey that you need to be watching. My Mum Your Dad is coming soon to Channel 9.
