Should kids be allowed in airport lounges? Here's what our readers thought
An airport lounge is an ideal setting for unwinding and refreshing before, or in between, a flight and is generally available to any and all passengers with access or via a payment.
Many airport lounges around the world also offer family-friendly areas or facilities, catering to travellers with young children.
But just like having a baby on a flight leaves some passengers less than impressed, it seems those thoughts also extend to having kids visit airport lounges.

In a Nine reader poll we asked the question, "should kids be allowed in airport lounges?"
The responses were split fairly evenly down the middle with only 56 per cent of people saying outright "yes".

On the other side of the coin, 22 per cent of respondents said an outright "no".
"NO the BRATS should NOT be allowed in airport lounges," was one such response.
However, the remaining 22 per cent selected "unsure" as they pointed out it would very much depend on a few things.

One of the biggest points centred around behaviour.
"Why wouldn't children be allowed in airport lounges?" one person commented. "Obviously the parents have paid for the privilege, however it should be the parent's responsibility to make sure the children are made to act with decorum in those types of settings."
"Kids in lounges are fine (their parents exist!) but they should be well-behaved and not disturbing others," another agreed.
A third said: "If they run up and down and yell, then it is not alright."

One person specifically thought access should be allowed "from 12 and older only."
While others stressed that if the children have earned the right to be in the lounge they wouldn't have an issue with it.
"If the kids have access because they fly a lot, then yes they should have access. If no then I would prefer not to have them in there. Space is at a premium in our overcrowded lounges already," one person pointed out.
"If the kids have purchased a Business class ticket they should be allowed into lounges," another said.
