The most popular domestic destinations Aussies are heading to in 2025
Online travel agency Webjet has shared the most popular domestic destinations Aussies are travelling to this year.
New data looked into trips booked between 2 February – 11 November 2024 for travel between 1 January – 11 October 2025.
While Queensland usually sits firmly at the top of many people's travel lists - another state has taken the crown for 2025.
Here are the top 10.
10. Launceston, Tasmania
Coming in tenth place is Launceston in Tasmania, accounting for three per cent of all the domestic bookings made for this year.
Famed for the Cataract Gorge, the area offers plenty of panoramic views and walking trails, plus dive into Tasmania's history.
8. Hobart, Tasmania
Tasmania was a popular choice for many, with Hobart accounting for five per cent of the total bookings for 2025.
Hobart is the ideal place to arrive and start a Tasmanian adventure, with a visit to the fashionable Salamanca Place.
7. Adelaide, South Australia
In seventh place was South Australia, with flight bookings to Adelaide accounting for six per cent of total bookings.
You'll find world-famous wines in the Barossa Valley, plus vibrant food, bar and cultural scenes in the capital.
6. Cairns, Queensland
Another Queensland favourite on the list is Cairns coming in at number six. As the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, the city received nine per cent of bookings for domestic travel in 2025.
5. Gold Coast, Queensland
Queensland's playground the Gold Coast came in at number five with 10 per cent of the total domestic bookings for the year.
4. Perth, Western Australia
Western Australia is proving more and more popular among Aussies for a domestic holiday, coming in at number four.
The WA capital offers the chance to watch a sunset over the ocean, plus is the perfect starting point for a road trip exploring the wine regions of the Margaret River and the stunning vistas of the world heritage listed Ningaloo coat.
3. Brisbane, Queensland
Coming in third place is the highest placed Queensland destination with Brisbane only just narrowly beating out Perth with 11 per cent of the total bookings for the year.
2. Sydney, New South Wales
Coming in second place is Sydney, accounting for 13 per cent of the total domestic bookings for Aussies in 2025.
It's usually a battle for the top spot between Sydney and this years winner.
1. Melbourne, Victoria
But the crown as gone to Melbourne. With 18 per cent of the total domestic bookings by Aussies in 2025, the Victorian capital takes the number one spot.
All up the top three destinations accounted for 42 per cent of all bookings.
