Now he becomes the sixth player to lose his first three men's singles grand slam finals.

Todd Woodbridge has delivered a heartfelt thank you to Jim Courier for making the trip to Australia after he had to deal with the devastating fires in Los Angeles.

"I want to say a big thank you to Jim as well because it would've been just as easy, because of the difficulties at home, to not have made it down here," he said on Nine's coverage.

"To make that effort to be here, I know all of our viewers across Nine's Wide World of Sports really appreciate the fact that you made that effort and we're proud of you."

Alexander Zverev was in a sombre mood after his Australian Open final loss to Jannik Sinner, declaring he's "just not good enough".

The world No.2's defeat made it three from three in grand slam finals, following losses at Roland Garros and the US Open.

Throughout the Australian Open, Jannik Sinner's fitness was a constant topic of discussion.

He was sick in one match. In another he was cramping.

And then in this final he clutched at his hamstring.

But the Italian has now cleared it all up.

"No issue, just a small feeling but then after it went away. I was prepared for it and I'm very happy," he told Nine.

Frustration for Alexander Zverev bubbled throughout his Australian Open final but the the biggest meltdown came after he lost the second set.

When Jannik Sinner made his speech, you could see Aussie coach Darren Cahill's eyes water up.

He held back the tears, only just.

All because of how beautiful Sinner's speech was, with Cahill officially ending his time as a coach at the Australian Open.

"My team, we worked a lot to be in this position, it's an amazing feeling to share this moment with all of you. I know part of the team is home and my family and everyone but it's amazing to achieve these things but mostly to share this with you guys," he said.

"I know Darren, it's probably, maybe, I'll try to convince you, your last Australian Open as a coach. I'm very, very happy to share this trophy with you.

"Everything started when I made my whole (coaching) change to you and Simone, I think you are an amazing combination of coaches and obviously the physical and physio (coaches) I'm very happy to have you, thank you so much."

Alexander Zverev has spoken after losing in straight sets.

The world no.2 admits he's 'just not good enough'.

"I want to thank my team, we're trying to do all the right work, I'm just not good enough, it's as simple as that," he said.

"But I really appreciate what everyone has done over the last few years ... I wouldn't be here without them."
