Super Rugby Team of the Week- Round Three
Lock
4. This is the position I've been saying Scott Fardy should be playing for the Wallabies. Now if Ewen McKenzie would just follow me on Twitter, we could get the Bledisloe back.
Loosehead prop
1. You have to admire the fact that Benn Robinson will attempt to fend off tacklers even if his legs have been taken out and he is totally immobile. Plus, he has a bulldog called The Baron. (All photos: Getty)
Hooker
2. This was just the first Super Rugby cap for Pat Leafa, but wow. This hooker is a welcome addition to a Rebels side that has been crying out for vigour in defence.
Tighthead prop
3. Ben Alexander seems to love nothing more than playing scrum-half. If he's not at a ruck in time to secure the ball, he's ready to chuck it out to the first receiver.
Lock
5. Speaking of the Wallabies, I'm more inclined to give a spot to Luke Jones over Hugh Pyle. Sure, Pyle scores the tries, but few players have as much mongrel as Jones.
Blindside flanker
6. Remember how Harold came back to Neighbours after however many years and even though he was gone for so long, he suddenly became a huge part of that show again? That's how I feel about Stephen Hoiles with the Waratahs. Incidentally, when Hoiles was last playing, this reference would have been topical.
Openside flanker
7. Seeing Michael Hooper leading his team as well as providing great work around the ruck, fellow openside captain Richie McCaw gave a thumbs up. But that was largely because of the plaster cast.
Number eight
8. I mulled explaining to my sister how incredible it was that a number 8 would make the kick that led to a try, but I didn't have the energy. Compare my lethargy to Scott Higginbotham, who was everywhere and did everything against the Cheetahs. I'm thinking that he should captain the Wallabies this year.
Scrumhalf
9. Luke Burgess was just what a scrumhalf should be on Friday night, an absolute nuisance for the other team. Two years with the most boring rugby competition in the world (France's Top 14) has sapped the Newcastle boy of none of his enthusiasm.
