PARIS: Australia has its youngest-ever Olympic medallist - and it's a gold.

Arisa Trew, at just 14, rode her way to history in the skateboard park final in Paris before being mobbed by family and friends.

Earlier, the Boomers were knocked out of the tournament in overtime by Serbia, the Aussies smashed a world record at the velodrome and our water polo women won through the medal rounds.

Here's what you missed in Paris overnight as the golds continue to push Australia back to third on the medal tally.

A gold medal at 14, if you don't mind

Arisa Trew won gold and entered the history books with an incredible third and final run in the skateboard park final at La Concorde

Her gold medal made her Australia's youngest-ever medallist by 94 days, taking the mantle from swimmer Sandra Morgan in the 4x100m freestyle relay in 1956.

She's the youngest medallist so far in any event in Paris, too young to even stay in the Olympic Village.

There were beautiful scenes after her win with the 14-year-old mobbed by her coach, family and friends.

"I mean it's really crazy," she told Nine's Olympic coverage.

"I'm just so excited. It's like just so many emotions at once."

Heartbreak for Boomers in overtime loss

There will be no medal for the Boomers in Paris after they coughed up a 24-point lead to lose an overtime thriller to Serbia.

A Patty Mills fadeaway jumper levelled things at 82-82 with just 1.4 seconds left in overtime, but it wasn't to be as costly turnovers and two clutch buckets from three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic proved the difference.

It was a shattering end to the Boomers' Olympic campaign, with Mills producing a vintage 26-point performance, including 20 in the first half.

Josh Giddey scored 25 of his own as he controlled the tempo for the Aussies.

The 21-year-old couldn't hide his devastation, telling Nine through tears what the loss meant to him.

"I don't really know how to sum it up now, it's so raw and soon after the game," he said.

"I just love this team, and I believed we had the group to go all the way... this feeling sucks and it's going to hurt, but it's going to build us.

"And we'll be back in LA."

It was a fiery contest, with several hard fouls and a flop by Serbia's Aleksa Avramovic after the most minor contact causing commentator Andrew Gaze to see red.

In the other quarter-finals, Germany proved too strong for Greece and France edged Canada 82-73 in front of a raucous home crowd.

A heaved Evan Fournier three-pointer in the final minute to seal the win sent the home fans into raptures and nearly blew the roof off Bercy Arena.

In the final quarter-final of the night, the USA steamrolled Brazil to win 122-87 and set up a semi-final against Australia's conquerors Serbia.

Joel Embiid, roundly booed after choosing to play for the USA over France, had 14 points in 12 minutes.

The basketball is being played in Paris for the first time at these Games after the pool matches were held 225km away in Lille.
