I’ve been a Swans member for 20 years. Writing this piece makes me feel uneasy
The emotions being wrestled with by fans like me this week have been confusing and evolved as the days have gone by.
Experience
Tim started his career as a sports journalist, videographer and editor in Melbourne, covering the Australian Open tennis and snow sports.
Joining Nine as a news journalist in 2014, Tim’s own reporting has covered everything from coronial inquests, criminal trials, natural disasters and federal elections.
In those first years after joining Nine, Tim helped lead the digital coverage of major events such as the downing of MH17, the Thai cave rescue, the Christchurch mosque shootings, the Lindt Café siege, the George Pell case and the ball-tampering cricket scandal.
Tim has since led nine.com.au’s digital coverage of several federal budgets from lockups at Parliament House in Canberra and in Sydney.
Tim also covered the death and funeral of Queen Elizabeth II from London and, in a career highlight, travelled to Paris to lead nine.com.au’s digital coverage of the Olympic Games in 2024.
As deputy editor, Tim plays a key role in leading the editorial output of the site, including major events, breaking news and longer-form features.
Tim has a particular focus on off-platform content and growth, including the nine.com.au app, Apple News and newsletters.
Education
Tim completed a Bachelor of Communication (Media) at RMIT University. Since joining Nine, he has been selected for several internal leadership programs to continue his development.
Awards and Recognition
Tim was an editor in the digital teams that won Kennedy Awards in both 2020 and 2021 for online breaking news coverage of the bushfire crisis and NSW floods, respectively.
