The New Zealand Kiwis have won the Pacific Championships final after a dominant second-half surge saw them beat down Toa Samoa.

A scintillating second half saw five tries from the Kiwi side that cut its deficit to Samoa and snatched the title with a final score of 36-14.

Retiring great Kieran Foran says he's "over the moon" after bowing out with victory in the Pacific Championship final.

After 318 NRL games across the Sea Eagles, Eels, Warriors, Bulldogs and Titans, and 34 Tests with New Zealand, the veteran playmaker drew the curtain on his phenomenal rugby league career as the Kiwis beat Samoa 36-14.

"[I'm] over the moon. I can't believe it. The boys — they just dug so deep. And I knew they would; we've had a really good campaign," Foran told Nine's Paul Gallen.

"I wanted to come in here and try and finish on a high. It's been a really tough year obviously up there [at the Titans], but to come in here and play with this bunch of boys and do it for our country, it was just a cherry on top, mate."

A crowd of 28,084 packed into CommBank Stadium for the decider and had the joint rocking, in another indication of just how much passion there is for rugby league in the Pacific.

Foran reiterated his belief that the Pacific Championships had the potential to one day exceed all else in rugby league, including State of Origin.

"The whole Pacific Championships has been phenomenal," Foran said.

"I've said it through the week; I think it can become the pinnacle of our game. I honestly do.

"You can see the crowds that have turned up, the noise, it really is something else, the last two crowds and especially this one today, that was special.

"Credit to the NRL and the organisers for putting it on because the support for the Samoan and the Tongan teams and us Kiwi boys was really special."

The Kiwis have staged a crushing second-half comeback to beat Samoa 36-14 at CommBank Stadium and clinch the Pacific Championship title.

The victory sends the retiring Kieran Foran out a deserved winner, after 318 NRL games and 34 Test matches.

Isaiah Papali'i bagged a double as Naufahu Whyte, Erin Clark, Casey McLean and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad collected tries of their own.

Samoa's try-scorers were Brian To'o and Simi Sasagi.

It's a rugby league cliché, but this has been a tale of two halves.

New Zealand has just run in another two tries, through Isaiah Papali'i and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, to extend its lead to 36-14.

Let's not forget that until the 33rd minute the Kiwis were down 12-0.

Papali'i has two tries for the day and the Kiwis are just minutes away from being crowned Pacific Championship winners.

Samoa's Deine Mariner and Francis Molo are both done for the day after copping head knocks.

The Samoans are running out of gas and the Kiwis are capitalising, with Casey McLean now crossing for a try.

Dylan Brown takes an adventurous run on the left edge and sends the rising star over.

Jamayne Isaako misses the conversion attempt but New Zealand now leads 24-14.

The Kiwis are on a CHARGE!

Gun middle forward Erin Clark bashes through Junior Paulo, Chanel Harris-Tavita AND Josh Papalii as he wills himself over the line in the 56th minute.

Clark's try pinches the lead for New Zealand before a Jamayne Isaako conversion extends the Kiwis' lead to 20-14.

Clark rubbed salt into Paulo's wounds after crashing over, shoving him in the face as he got off the ground.

"He just muscles his way to the in-goal [and says], 'Get out of my way'."

Nine's Marlee Silva then reveals the crowd attendance is 28,084.

The Samoans were at one point leading 14-0.

The scoreline now reads 14 apiece.

Jarome Luai collects Keano Kini high and Jamayne Isaako kicks a penalty goal, levelling the scores in the 53rd minute.
