'Nothing has changed': Gorden Tallis shrugs off 'petty' Broncos move, doubles down on Adam Reynolds criticism

Gorden Tallis has brushed off the "petty" decision from Broncos officials to revoke an honour in his name as his feud with the club continues.

The three-time premiership winner has been at odds with Brisbane in recent weeks, with captain Adam Reynolds and coach Michael Maguire in the firing line.

Tallis was critical of Reynolds and his call to appear on Fox League less than 48 hours after suffering a rib cartilage injury and then missed his side's round three clash.

The back-and-forth between "The Raging Bull" and his former club reached boiling point on Friday night, with news filtering through before the game against Melbourne that a meeting room named after Tallis at the Red Hill facility had been renamed.

Speaking for the first time since that change went public, Tallis shrugged it off and said his relationship with the Broncos wouldn't change and neither would his opinions, while also denying any personal agenda against Maguire or Reynolds.

"I'm good, nothing has changed in my life," he said on Triple M's Sunday Sin Bin.

"They can't take away my memories, they can't take away what I did, no one can.

"I view myself as a fan of the game and I'm paid for my opinion.

"It's not that I don't like them, it's the fact that I just can't have an opinion, so what I'm gonna do is stop talking about them and they can work it out themselves.

"It will not change my relationship with the blokes I played with one bit. For the current players, it doesn't change my relationship or the way I view them.

"I've been told don't be vanilla in the media. I love talking about the game and I can't sit there and have an opinion and then worry about other opinions that come back at me.

"I said it's not great optics [Reynolds appearing on TV after an injury] … if that's the worst thing I've said on this radio show, I should give up.

"I'm gonna be honest and what I feel and what I see, I will talk about." 

Tallis played 160 games for the Broncos after joining the club from St George, winning three grand finals and captaining the club.

The move to attempt to erase him from the history books didn't go down well with many in the game including Andrew Johns, who conceded that Tallis had "gone over the top" at times with his criticism, but had earned a right to his opinion

"I think it's really petty," he said on Nine's Sunday Footy Show.

"Gorden is loyal to a fault and some of the things he's said, we all know he's backed his great mate Kevin Walters, but that's Gorden.

"Other comments Gorden has made, he has gone over the top on a few occasions but on this one, I think there was real merit."

Billy Slater believes the stance from Tallis would be no different behind closed doors.

"I think if the Broncos called up Gorden and said 'what do you think about this situation', I think he would have given them an honest answer," Slater said.

"If you're sitting on television giving an answer, you would give them the same answer face-to-face." 

Brisbane defeated the Storm at AAMI Park for the first time in a decade on Friday night, easing the pressure on coach Maguire and the playing squad.
