The six clubs who could land Lachlan Galvin after Wests Tigers plan to cut ties with young superstar

Lachlan Galvin is set to become the NRL's hottest free agent this November, with a host of clubs likely to table offers to the Wests Tigers young gun.

News broke on Monday morning that the teenager had knocked back a five-year deal to remain at Concord and would be testing the open market for the 2027 season onwards.

Putting aside the obvious flaws in the NRL contract system, the 19-year-old's decision will no doubt have teams on high alert and looking intently at their own salary cap, given the fact Galvin will be wanting a deal in excess of $1 million per year.

As one of the best young playmakers in the game, Galvin would be a consideration for many clubs and is the type of talent administrators would shuffle the deck to sign.

To muddy the waters even further in terms of his potential earning capacity, Newcastle's $13 million deal for Dylan Brown has seen the player market thrown into chaos and it would appear that Galvin's manager Isaac Moses is hoping to cash in.

While there are some obvious choices for where Galvin could head next, some left-field options may arise as we get closer towards the all-important November 1 date.

Parramatta Eels

Galvin has already been linked with the blue and gold in the past, but that will go to another level now that he's officially going to the open market.

Having played his junior footy in the Parramatta district and growing up as an Eels fan, it would make plenty of sense to see Galvin return to his roots.

The club has already lost Dylan Brown for next season, freeing up an estimated $1 million in their cap to land another long-term marquee player.

With the Tigers youngster not available until 2027, head coach Jason Ryles could look at a stop-gap solution for next season before bringing Galvin into the fold.

The five-eighth would link up with one of the best halfbacks in the game in Mitchell Moses and immediately turn the Eels into a top-eight threat, building alongside rookie spine members Ryley Smith and Isaiah Iongi.

The playmakers share a manager in the aforementioned Isaac Moses, which could also play a role in Galvin's decision and the Eels ability to complete the signing.

Sydney Roosters

If there was ever an NRL club that seemed like the perfect fit for a boom young gun on huge money, the Roosters would certainly be the place.

Just the thought of Galvin playing alongside Sam Walker for the next decade would be enough for the Bondi faithful to be booking grand final tickets every year.

Sandon Smith is off-contract at the end of 2026, which perfectly marries up with the time Galvin will become available and it would be a logical fit for the Chooks.

The only potential stumbling block - and it's a big one - is the fact that Roosters boss Nick Politis has a long-standing issue with Galvin's agent and refuses to deal with him.

But if there was ever a time to put that personal conflict aside for the sake of on-field results, signing a player like Galvin would be the man to do it for.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Another high-profile Sydney club that could be in the mix are Wayne Bennett's Bunnies, who have started the season is surprisingly strong form.

However, as it stands, the only playmaker signed to Souths for 2027 is Lewis Dodd, who is yet to make his first grade debut after moving across from the Super League.

Cody Walker, as classy as he may be, isn't getting any younger and the potential fresh contract for the 35-year-old would most likely only be for next season.

Jamie Humphreys has looked solid in his early career and could be a long-term player for the cardinal and myrtle, but he too is off-contact at the end of next year.

Adding a player of Galvin's quality to a roster that includes players like Latrell Mitchell, Keaon Koloamatangi and Cameron Murray would be hard to stop.

Whether they have the money or not is a different story, but 2027 is a long way away.

Penrith Panthers

Here's where things get a little bit interesting.

Nathan Cleary is the best player in the NRL and there's very little room to argue - but to start this season, both he and the Panthers have struggled without Jarome Luai.

Blaize Talagi is a prodigious young talent and will be at the foot of the Mountains long-term, but at this stage his best position remains unclear, while Jack Cole is unsigned for 2027 and hasn't shown a great deal in the early stages of his time in the top grade.

Galvin could be the perfect foil for Cleary and would help keep Penrith's premiership window wide-open for many years to come.

What a turnaround that would be if the man Luai looked set to partner at the Tigers ends up becoming the man to fill the No.6 jumper at his former club.

St George Illawarra Dragons

While coach Shane Flanagan has gone on the record to say the Red V need front-rowers as opposed to halves, there's a long way to go for that tune to change.

St George Illawarra have had a mixed start to the season with Lachlan Ilias and Kyle Flanagan in the playmaking roles, but will welcome Daniel Atkinson to the mix next year on a multi-year deal where he is expected to play five-eighth.

Ilias is currently off-contract at the end of 2026, while the coach's son has a further year to go on his contract at Wollongong.

While both are honest players who have good performances in them - as shown in the round six win over the Titans - neither are going to win the Dragons a premiership.

One player who could help take Flanagan's men to the next level though is Galvin and it would be silly for the Dragons not to take a look at signing him for 2027.

Flanagan is also managed by the controversial Moses, which could assist the Saints in any potential bid for the former Australian Schoolboys standout.

Dolphins

If you ask most smart judges in rugby league land, the best two young halves in the competition right now are Lachlan Galvin and Isaiya Katoa.

So wouldn't it be something special to see them join forces at Redcliffe?

While it might be a tough sell to get Galvin to leave his family and friends in Sydney, the Dolphins could offer him plenty of money, given the fact they were in the mix to sign Dylan Brown before his record-setting contract at the Knights.

Katoa is locked in until the end of 2028 and is cementing himself as an elite ball-dominant halfback, which could allow Galvin to keep the same No.6 jersey.

It's probably the least likely landing spot on this list, but not out of the question either.
