Dylan Brown joins lucrative list
Dylan Brown has signed the biggest contract in NRL history, said to be worth $14m over 10 years with Newcastle from 2026.
It puts the Kiwi five-eighth at the top of the pile in terms of yearly salaries in rugby league - although plenty of players are coming for the crown.
By our count, 19 players will earn above $1m in 2025 - Brown is already among them at the Eels.
Here are the others.
Cameron Murray (Rabbitohs) - $1m
Amid a troubled ending to the 2023 NRL season, the club captain produced an incredible act of leadership by extending his deal until the end of 2028.
Murray has been pursued by Rugby Australia for years.
Sam Walker (Roosters) - $1m
The young halfback extended his Roosters deal to the end of 2027 and will be earning $1m a year over that deal.
Queensland clubs - namely the Broncos - had been desperately trying to lure him home to the sunshine state.
Latrell Mitchell (Rabbitohs) - $1 million
The enigmatic superstar penned an extension with the Bunnies in December 2022.
He's committed to the Redfern club until the end of 2027.
Harry Grant (Storm) - $1 million
The gun hooker inked an extension with the Storm in March 2022 which tipped his salary into the seven figures a year bracket.
In October 2024 he activated a contract option for season 2026.
David Fifita (Titans) - $1 million
He was the highest paid player in the game when he inked his first Titans contract worth $1.25m a year.
That's since been reduced after he extended in 2023, committing to the club until the end of 2026.
Addin Fonua-Blake (Sharks) - $1 million
The hulking Tongan prop joined Cronulla at the start of 2025 on big money, after leaving the Warriors.
He is signed to the end of 2028.
Cameron Munster (Storm) - $1 million
The larrikin Melbourne five-eighth signed a four-year extension at the end of 2022 to remain with the Storm.
Some reports suggest he took a paycut on that deal, but snubbed offers from rivals that could have netted him $1.5m a year.
Daly Cherry-Evans (Sea Eagles) - $1 million
He famously backflipped on a Gold Coast move to ink a $10 million "lifetime" contract with Manly in 2015.
At the end of 2022 he extended for two more years - so, he's signed for a lifetime plus two?
Cherry-Evans is without a contract for 2026 but says he wants to play on.
James Fisher-Harris (Warriors) - $1m+
The four-time premiership prop left Penrith at the end of 2024 to join the Warriors.
He was earning near enough to $1 million and while his Warriors salary is hard to nail down, it stands to reason he is earning at least that - especially after the departures of Addin Fonua-Blake and Shaun Johnson.
