Just one hour after potentially breaking her nose in a nasty pre-race incident that almost prematurely ended her Derby Day, group one-winning jockey Jamie Kah saluted in the biggest race of the day with a stunning ride on Goldrush Guru.

Kah copped a painful whack in the face from her horse Hurry Curry before the running of the Wakeful Stakes.

The 28-year-old was forced to dismount to receive medical treatment after Hurry Curry reared up twice while entering the barriers, hitting the surprised jockey flush.

Race five was delayed as trackside doctors tried to stem the blood streaming from Kah's nose.

But with claret continuing to flow, Kah was deemed unfit to ride.

Hurry Curry was scratched from the race, as was Ziggy Rose for poor behaviour ahead of the jump.

Speaking to Nine's Tony Jones before her check-up with doctors in the mounting yard, Kah gestured to her "swollen" nose.

"I've been better," she said.

"[The doctors] didn't want me to ride while my nose was bleeding.

"Now it's stopped, we should be all good."

In the subsequent race, the Coolmore Stud Stakes, Kah jockeyed Traffic Warden to 10th.

Kah secured two wins on what was a drama-filled day for the South Australian.

Earlier in the day, Kah took out the 1400m Damien Oliver race before clinching the showpiece race, the 2500m Victoria Derby on Goldrush Guru.

"I couldn't stop him [Goldrush Guru], he wanted to do another lap," Kah told Nine's Billy Slater after passing the post first.

"... I think he's got all the right attributes [to contest a Melbourne Cup]. He was very keen early, and then he just settled once he got cover and fell asleep, so the 3200m wouldn't bother him so I'll be pushing them to push forward to that next year."

To top it all off, Kah was hit with a 10-meeting ban for careless riding during the TAB Vanity.

Kah suffered a terrifying fall at Flemington last year and was put in an induced coma for six days before recovering.
