'Who she is doesn't reflect what I heard in the court': Sam Kerr's coach speaks out
Sam Kerr's English football club won't punish the Australian superstar after video of her 2022 arrest was played during a days-long court case that concluded with a not guilty verdict on Wednesday.
In fact her Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor said the club will continue supporting the 31-year-old and hopes to have her back on the field soon as she continues recovering from a serious knee injury suffered 13 months ago.
Kerr was charged with racially aggravated harrassment of a police officer, but found not guilty in a London court.

She apologised "for expressing myself poorly on what was a traumatic evening" as footage was aired around the world of her calling a police officer "stupid and white".
While Kerr was found not guilty of the charges she faced, there is potential for her to still be reprimanded at club or international level. Football Australia has not yet indicated whether Kerr will continue to captain the Matildas when she returns from injury.

At Chelsea, it seems she has no case to answer.
"Sam made a statement, she apologised for that and I think that is enough," Bompastor said.
"Every man, every woman can make mistakes and that's what you learn from and that's how you move forward.
"What she was facing last week was hard enough for her so the only thing we want to do as a club is support her."
Bompastor revealed she had been in constant communication with Kerr throughout the trial.
The coach was rapt with the outcome.
"Really happy for her. I think, as you can imagine, it was a tough week, difficult week for her and for her family," she said.
"Since I joined Chelsea (in May last year) I really know Sam as a player, but also as a person, and I was really surprised for her to be involved in that.
"Who she is doesn't reflect what I heard in the court and also what I was reading in the newspapers and everything.
"We really know her, we are probably, with her family, the ones who know her the most and it was difficult to see her in that situation. We were really supporting her and I'm really glad the verdict was positive and now she can move forward.
"We care about Sam and we just want to give her the best."
Kerr has not been seen on a football field since rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament in January last year.
