Mystery as $190m England star axed for ‘breach of discipline’
Jack Grealish was left to accept his fate for actions around training this week as he was dropped for Everton’s Carabao Cup game “due to a breach of club discipline”.
As per English media reports, the England star was axed from the team that faced Newcastle on Friday (AEDT) reportedly due to his absence from a training session.

It is the second straight game Grealish has missed, having been ruled out of Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal due to illness.
Grealish’s omission was a cruel blow for Everton and their home fans at Hill Dickinson Stadium, especially given the nasty number of players in their injury ward, but it was a club imposed sanction that saw the star winger dropped.
Coach David Moyes has consistently backed Grealish in times others wouldn’t, working to shut down any noise that may arise about his form, his personal life or his well-known social life – including most recently being caught sleeping at a pub.
But his absence from training seems to be the line Moyes will not tolerate.
Grealish is currently in his second year on loan at Everton from Manchester City, a team he joined in 2021 on a monster $190m AUD transfer deal.
The former Aston Villa gun was then loaned out to Everton for the 2025-26 season, where he nailed two goals and six assists in his 20 appearances.
A season-ending foot injury cut his time with Everton short earlier this year, but an arrangement to have a similar loan deal in effect for this season was made.
Everton won 3-1 in his absence on Friday, booking a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Grealish will be hopeful to return for Everton’s next duel against Newcastle in Tuesday’s Premier League fixture.
