Canterbury have slammed reports that they have been shopping high-priced hooker Reed Mahoney to rival clubs.

The rumour mill went into overdrive on Thursday morning when social media reports had Mahoney on the outer at the Bulldogs.

But the club's boss Phil Gould angrily shut down the rumours on Thursday night.

"It's complete rubbish," Gould told Wide World of Sports.

"I know Reed's manager really well, and I'm confident he hasn't shopped him around.

"I know that no one from our club has shopped him around.

"So there is absolutely nothing to it."

Mahoney has been a key man in the Bulldogs' revival in recent seasons, joining the club in 2023 on big dollars after making his name at Parramatta.

Renowned for his ability to niggle opponents and put them off their game, he is very much a part of coach Cameron Ciraldo's plans for 2025, according to Gould.
