America stunned by Aussie NFL star’s punt borrowed from the AFL
Australian NFL punter Michael Dickson has America in a frenzy after pulling off an AFL-style kick mid-game.
Dickson, the Seattle Seahawks star who hails from Sydney’s south, reeled off a banana kick during his side’s 20-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The kick, which is executed by contacting the ball with the outside of the boot to make it curl like a banana, is a key skill in Australian rules football.
But it’s clearly foreign to America.
“Watch this,” Mike Tirico said in commentary as a replay of Dickson’s kick was shown.
“He has his shoulders aimed to the right, catches it, squares up, aims left, and then he gets a big old slice back towards the middle.
“The dude is so talented.”
Fellow commentator Cris Collinsworth was just as amazed.
“I mean, when he kicked that ball I thought it was going to the receiver over on the boundary,” Collinsworth said.
“And then watch how far this thing moves back!”
A popular American football account on X called MLFootball said the kick was “absolutely insane”.
Footage of the kick was posted on the official NFL social media pages with the caption: “Something you’d expect to see down the fairway”.
