The year is 2022. The month is February. The location is Aspmyra Stadion in Bodø, Norway.

Players have gloves and long sleeve shirts on and the cool air of Norway is crisp. Ange Postecoglou stands on the sideline with gloves, jacket and a neck gaiter.

His Celtic team has a mountain to climb against Bodø/Glimt.

They were embarrassed at home in the first leg of the Europa Conference League knockout round play-off tie. The score was 3-1 and now they faced elimination.

This story doesn't end happily.

Nine minutes in, Ola Solbakken beats goalkeeper Joe Hart to his right. The cloud of cold air can be seen coming from Solbakken's body as he celebrates.

Postecoglou watches his side waste chances before Hugo Vetlesen scores another for Bodø/Glimt in the 69th minute.

The Aussie's team is beaten comfortably 2-0 on the artificial turf and it's a miserable flight home to Glasgow.

You could hardly be surprised by the result though. Five months beforehand, the Norwegian side smashed Jose Mourinho's side 6-1.

The club's fans still talk about those results three years on, evident in a recent Copa 90 episode where the club sang:

We have been and plundered Roma.

Celtic wasn't any good.

Who's supposed to stand in the way?

Bodø/Glimt is the biggest in the North.

In that same video, the fans point out Bodø/Glimt always score at home in the Europa League.

That much is true.

Against Porto they put away three, and also scored one in a loss to Qarabag FK. Next up was Besiktas, when two goals were scored before another three against Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C. They went into knockout phase match against FC Twente, down 2-1. In the second leg they scored five at home to win the aggregate. The round of 16 match against Olympiacos resulted in three goals at home. Then in the quarter final, Lazio conceded two against them.

Now with a two-goal lead into this second leg, Postecoglou will need to limit Bodø/Glimt's incredible goal-scoring trend.

Looking back to that Celtic match, Postecoglou didn't have his side train on the artificial turf, but he changed his approach this time around.

We shouldn't read too much into that, according to the manager.

"It was different circumstances, a different scenario with Celtic but tonight was more about we've done this with Frankfurt, we've done it consistently through Europe," he said at his press conference.

"We just feel this works for us and players are used to coming the night before and training at the venue so it made sense for us to do it this year."

Will it pay off? Time will tell.

With a Europa League final spot on the line for the Norwegian surprise packets, it could just be an Aussie manager who stands in the way.
