Thanks for joining us

Thanks for tuning into the blog on day three.

Another absolutely incredible day for India but the same can't be said for Australia, who are in absolute disarray after losing three wickets in the final 20 minutes.

It's going to require something historic to dig them out of this hole over the next two days after losing 3-12 and still requiring more than 500 runs to win.

Marnus departs on final ball

It's an absolute tear-up late in the day for Australia.

Labuschagne leaves a swinging ball from Bumrah onto his pads and is given out lbw by the on-field umpire immediately.

He decides to review the decision, but ball-tracking shows Labuschagne is clearly out.

3-12 inside five overs and this game is well out of their reach now.

Umpires call stumps and Australia are completely on the ropes, trailing by 521 runs.

"A dramatic day of Test cricket," Adam Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket.

"Australia are reeling."

Nightwatchman experiment fails

Liam O'Loughlin

Cummins time as a nightwatchman is short-lived.

The skipper edges a delivery from Siraj into the safe hands of Kohli at second slip.

Australia are in absolute shambles right now at 2-9 with nine minutes left in the day.

McSweeney is out fourth ball! Bumrah strikes with an lbw in the first over.

"It was just a matter of time," Ravi Shastri said on Fox Cricket.

Kohli speaks after century

Kohli walks off the field in a special moment for the Indian icon.

"I just wanted to contribute to the team scores ... I take pride in performing for my country," he told Fox Cricket.

KOHLI TONS UP

Kohli reaches his century!

An incredible performance from the Indian superstar.

"The king continues his love affair of batting in Australia," Mark Howard said.

As soon as he reaches the milestone, Bumrah calls them off and India have declared.

Australia have been set 533 runs to win - a massive uphill battle awaits.

Marnus getting slogged

Liam O'Loughlin

Kohli plays a reverse-sweep off Lyon that splits the gap and races away for a boundary, moving him into the nervous 90s in the second innings.

Marnus has now changed to leg-spin and Kumar Reddy takes full advantage, belting a ball over the rope for six runs as he continues a blistering quick-fire knock.

The partnership has already moved to 68 off 45 balls.

Kohli eyes off century

Marnus is back into the attack to bowl his short-pitched medium pace.

"This is bowling for a declaration," David Warner said on Fox Cricket.

Kohli splits the gap on the leg-side with a hook shot, adding another boundary to his tally as he edges closer to three figures in the series opener.

"Absolute disregard for the bowling," Warner said.

He backs it up with a slashing flat-bat shot down the ground for another four runs.

"This is just treating Labuschagne with disdain," Michael Hussey said.

'Foot down' from Kohli and co

Liam O'Loughlin

Kumar Reddy hits three boundaries in a row off Marsh's bowling, applying the pressure and bringing the Indian fans to their feet.

Kohli follows a similar route, taking Lyon over mid-off for six runs as the crowd erupts.

"They have put the foot down," Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket.

"When the other batsman plays the shots, it can drag the other one along quickly."

Could we see a declaration before the night is over? Lead sits at almost 500 runs.

'Playing for the IPL contract'

Liam O'Loughlin

Reddy plays a flick shot for six runs, wasting little time getting into his work.

"That is a long hit out there," Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket.

"He is playing for the IPL contract."

The auction for the Indian T20 competition will take place over the next two nights.
