Port Adelaide legend Travis Boak has called time on his AFL career and will retire at season's end.

The 37-year-old informed his Power teammates on Tuesday morning, according to Nine's Tom Morris.

If he plays the remaining three games this season he will finish with a career tally of 387, putting him seventh on the VFL/AFL all-time games list.

Boak captained the Power from 2013 to 2018 and will be remembered as one of the club's greatest servants, despite never winning a premiership with them.

The tough big-bodied midfielder made the All-Australian team in 2013, 2014, and 2020, and won his club's best and fairest medal twice.

He also won the Adelaide Showdown medal on three occasions.

Earlier this season Boak surpassed Russell Ebert as the club's games record holder, and paid tribute to the Power icon.

"It is a special moment, mainly because of what Russell means to this footy club," Boak said at the time.

"I certainly don't consider myself up there with the names of Russell Ebert and the greats of this footy club."

The Power will also change coaches once the season finishes, with Ken Hinkley handing the reins to Josh Carr.
