During the grand final press conference, Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan ruled out any chance of changing his side's preparation, revealing he didn't pull out any previous Ted Lasso lines he's used before.

Fagan has channelled his inner Ted Lasso in the past, using lines from the TV sporting coach.

Halfway through the season when the Lions were struggling and couldn't convert chances, Fagan showed some vision from the TV show.

"We watched some vision early on in the year of when us as player got disappointed and dropped our heads when things went wrong, not only missing goals but making mistakes," Lions star Dayne Zorko told SEN.

"Fages did a fantastic exercise throughout the year about that and then we watched a bit of Ted Lasso about being that goldfish, just forgetting it."

The direct quote from Ted Lasso is the coach telling Samuel "Sam" Obisanya to "be a goldfish" after a frustrating time on the training pitch.

Character Dani Rojas also gets a bad case of the yips throughout the show.

Asked whether he'll channel his inner Ted Lasso during the grand final press conference, Fagan laughed.

"That Ted Lasso thing, that's been overplayed. Seriously," he said.

"I showed them one episode when Dani Rojas had the yips, we weren't kicking too straight and needed to laugh at ourselves a bit, that's the only time I use Ted Lasso.

"It was more to have a bit of fun, lighten things up."

Fagan downplaying the references will be disappointing for all popular culture fans.

And it means he won't be changing things in preparation for the decider.

"Keep it calm, do the same thing every week," he said.

"That's the mistake I think you can make when you get to grand finals, you think you've got to change things around but it'll be the same. We'll just do what we always do at our meetings."
