Dusty calls time on AFL career

Richmond legend Dustin Martin has called time on his stellar AFL career and will go down as one of the greatest players of the modern era.

With three premierships, three Norm Smith Medals and one Brownlow to his name, the 33-year-old did it all for the Tigers.

"It is hard to put into words what the Richmond Football Club means to me, I love this place so much," he said.

"I will be forever grateful for the love and the support I have received from the people here.

"To my teammates, the brotherhood that we all share is what I value most, as well as the bond with the staff and coaches… Thank you to all of you.

"To my family and friends, thank you for your unconditional love and support. To the Tiger army, I have always felt loved and supported throughout my career, and for that, I will be forever grateful. The memories that we have created together will live with me forever."

Martin skipped his own retirement press conference and brushed aside the need for a farewell game, proving once again his humble and quietly-spoken nature.

Let's take a trip down memory lane and relive the best moments of Martin's 14-year career in the AFL.

After some teething problems in pre-season, Martin started the 2010 season in the top grade with the Tigers.

His first few years in the AFL were mixed - as is the case for plenty of young players - with concerns over his attitude and fitness.

While it took some time, Martin would start to become a superstar of the sport by the time the 2016 campaign rolled around.
