Influencer announces his own death aged 30 in a pre-recorded video, weeks after becoming a dad

A social media star has announced his own death in a heartbreaking pre-recorded video, just weeks after becoming a dad for the first time.

In a video posted to his Instagram account with his wife Shay Wright, Tanner Martin let their 451,000 followers know he had died aged 30 after a five-year colon cancer battle.

"Hey, it's me, Tanner, if you're watching this, I am dead," he began the video.

"I had a heck of a life."

Martin and Wright welcomed their first child together, daughter AmyLou, last month.

Wright was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2020 when he was 25.

"I decided to make this video announcing my death because I saw someone did that, like, a year or so ago, and I think it's a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out, and then also you can be thoughtful about what your spouse or your partner might need."

Martin asked for everyone to "offer prayers" for his wife and newborn daughter.

"But you guys, life was awesome. I really enjoyed it while I was here," he continued.

"Hopefully, I believe there's something after this. I'm excited to meet those people, and hopefully we're hanging out now and making fun of all you nerds," he said with a laugh.

Martin said he was "excited to see" several loved ones who had died.

He concluded the video by thanking his followers for their support and making his last few years "fun and enjoyable, and helping me be comfortable".

The comments were flooded with messages of condolences.

Shortly after, another video recorded by Martin was uploaded to the couple's joint account, sharing his "last wish" for people to donate to a GoFundMe to help Wright with raising their daughter.

Martin and Wright announced the birth of their daughter on May 15.

"Her daddy made it," photos of the couple with their newborn were captioned.
