Exclusive photos of Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei's 10-day royal wedding released

Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei's 10-day royal wedding extravaganza continues with a traditional ceremony during which the bride and groom are blessed by close family members on January 10.

Prince Mateen is marrying Anisha Isa Kalebic in what is the first royal wedding of 2024 and will span 10 days.

Photos of 'The Powdering Ceremony' have been shared by the prince on social media. In the photos, the bride and groom are seated and members of their families arrive.

Following 'The Powdering Ceremony' was a solemnisation ceremony which was attended by only male guests including ministers and government officials.

This ceremony took place in a mosque and officially legalised the marriage.

Next will be the wedding ceremony and reception followed by a procession through the streets and then a lavish banquet.

The Sultan of Brunei announced his son's engagement in October with Prince Mateen, 32, sharing the first portrait with his fiancée last week.

Photos of the bride preparing for her 10-day wedding were shared by designer Teh Frdaus with photos by Muash Rosman.

"Honored to play a role in the Brunei royal wedding," the designer wrote.

More photos of the bride were shared on Wednesday showing Anisha wearing a long-sleeved white dress and veil, also by Teh Firdaurs, during the initial ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman.

"The Berbedak Mandi ceremony, a spectacle of magnificence, took place at Istana Nurul Iman, where HRH Prince 'Abdul Mateen and YM Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam were bathed in blessings by their nearest and dearest," the caption read.

"Parents, siblings and venerable elders graced this momentous occasion, enveloping the soon-to-be-wedded pair in an aura of glamour and tradition."

There is speculation the Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the lavish event as the Sultan was a guest at their 2011 wedding at Westminster Abbey. The sultan and his son also attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in 2022 and the coronation of King Charles in 2023.

Prince Mateen, who has 2.4 million followers on Instagram, is in line to the throne in wealthy Brunei, a small nation on the island of Borneo near Malaysia.
