Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie step out for first royal event since Prince Andrew’s arrest

Princess Beatrice and her younger sister Princess Eugenie have made their first public royal appearance this year.

The York sisters were seen arriving at All Saints’ Church in Kemble, England on Saturday, for the wedding of their cousin Peter Phillips to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling.

Pregnant Princess Eugenie, who is expecting her third child later this year, wore a head-to-toe navy ensemble and was matching with her husband Jack Brooksbank, who opted for a three-piece morning suit in the same hue.

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice donned a green floral dress with lemon-coloured accessories, paired to match husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s waistcoat.

The sisters and their husbands arrived together at the Cotswolds location, with the gents dutiful holding up large umbrellas until the rain stopped.

The York sisters were last seen at Sandringham alongside members of the royal family for their Christmas celebrations but have particularly taken cover since their father’s arrest in February.

The former Prince Andrew - now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor - was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office during his time as UK trade envoy. An investigation remains ongoing, but no charges have been made.

It also marks the first time the sisters have been seen in public since it was revealed this week that their uncle King Charles is paying for them to live “rent free” in royal homes, despite not being working members of the royal family.

A National Audit Office report into royal residences, the first in 20 years, showed their rent is paid through the monarch’s private income from estates as opposed to the Sovereign Grant.

The arrangement was first put into place by the sisters’ grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, and is being honoured by her heir.

King Charles also attended the nuptials, with wife Queen Camilla.

The couple is expected to make an early exit from the Gloucestershire party to head to the races, with the pair set to attend The Epsom Derby later today.

Beatrice and Eugenie’s parents, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, are not invited to the second wedding of their nephew, who is Princess Anne’s son.

It’s also understood Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were not invited to the nuptials.

Harry’s older brother, Prince William, and his wife Catherine did take attend their cousin’s wedding, along with aunt and uncle Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Princess of Wales stunned in a blush tweed fit-and-flare dress with a matching hat, while the Prince of Wales opted for a traditional grey morning suit.

Also in attendance, the groom’s sister Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall.

Princess Anne arrived at the church wearing a big smile as well as a lemon and white ensemble for her mother-of-the-groom look.

But it was the bride who well and truly was best dressed, arriving in an elegant lace gown, held up by the couple’s three daughters, who served as bridesmaids.

The young trio posed for the cameras again as their parents left the church, stopping to pose for the waiting photographers outside, both smiling broadly.

Their daughters from their previous marriages - teens Georgina Sperling and Savannah and Isla Phillips - were seen together for the first time in public earlier this year.

The trio were side-by-side at the royals’ Easter celebrations in Windsor, which Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie skipped, with permission from the King.

Phillips, 48, and Sperling, 45, announced their engagement last August and have been dating since about mid-2024.

After the church ceremony, the wedding party are then set to take the 20-minute drive back to Gatcombe Park - the royal estate Princess Anne and her children live on - for the private reception.

It’s thought the couple opted for this location over any other royal-approved venue to keep their nuptials intimate and to celebrate with close family and friends.
