Meghan's dress for her first outing with the Queen sends a message to her critics

Judging by Meghan Markle's choice of dress for her first outing with Queen Elizabeth, she’s all too aware of what royal watchers have been saying about her in recent days.

The Duchess of Sussex, 36, copped some backlash following her first Trooping the Colour appearance on Saturday, for which she wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress.

So, when the newlywed stepped off the Royal Train with Her Majesty on Thursday morning in an oat-coloured Givenchy dress, the neckline of the outfit did not go unnoticed.

On social media, there was plenty of discussion as to whether the Duchess was sending a very pointed message to her critics with the design of her dress.

One even joked that it was the Queen herself who ensured Meghan’s shoulders were entirely covered by her outfit.

Whether or not Meghan chose to cover her shoulders to appease the monarch, it seems she has embraced some of the Royal Family’s so-called “style codes".

For her ‘day away’ with the Queen, the former actress appears to be wearing a pair of skin-tone stockings, the kind favoured by the likes of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
