Prince Harry and Meghan’s children have been forced to switch schools after just two days, when security concerns surrounding the pickup and drop off were exposed.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were withdrawn on the advice of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s security team who cited the “practicalities” of getting the children to and from the school.

The news comes as Meghan was granted her first government-backed security review since quitting royal duties six years ago.

Both she and Prince Harry − who celebrates his 42nd birthday today (September 15) − will receive an official risk assessment imminently, following their move back to Britain.

They have been asked by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) to provide full details of their new daily routines, The Telegraph UK reports.

Prince Harry and Meghan must provide as much detail as possible about their new lives in the UK, including the school run, addresses and routes taken and other routines the couple regularly partake in.

The information will be used to determine the level of security they have in Britain despite being non-working members of the royal family, as confirmed by King Charles in a letter sent last week.

Prince Harry was told by Ravec’s chairman late last week that, in light of their changed circumstances, the committee had commissioned a new risk assessment for him and a separate one for his wife.

Meghan’s security assessment will be her first since she was granted police protection as a working member of the royal family after marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

Prince Harry was granted a review earlier this year, but the outcome has not been shared with him.

Since their return to the UK late last month, the family has been given light security. Prince Harry has a contact number for a police liaison officer but otherwise relies on his own private security team, who are not allowed to carry firearms.

The duchess is likely to make occasional public appearances now she is living in the UK. On Sunday, Meghan shared the first glimpse of her family’s new lives, posting a video to Instagram showing her and Harry, and the children, in the British countryside.

Prince Harry will make the first of several public appearances later this week. On Thursday, he will attend the Invictus Spirit Awards in London, with Meghan rumoured to be joining him.

Prince Harry will then meet children and their families at the WellChild awards on September 21, a charity he has been patron of for 18 years.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes told Hello! magazine: “The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements”.

The issue was reportedly around the dropoff and pickup, putting the couple’s private security team under strain.

According to the publication, one incident involving heavy traffic made it difficult for the family’s vehicles to stay in convoy.

Although Prince Harry and Meghan’s bodyguards had inspected the school before the family’s arrival in the UK, a proper assessment couldn’t be carried out until the first day of term last week.
