King Charles III has shown his support for injured service men and women, including soldiers in Ukraine, ahead of the third anniversary of Russia's invasion.

His Majesty made a visit to the Centre for Injury Studies, part of the Imperial College campus in West London, to hear about the medical advances being made – particularly in the field of prosthetics.

The centre has been applying lessons learned from previous conflicts, including Afghanistan and Iraq, to help support the wounded in Ukraine.

Henson, who has two prosthetic legs, is now a researcher at the centre.

Henson was seen chatting to Charles at length before demonstrating the virtual reality biofeedback technology at the centre, which is designed to enhance rehabilitation following limb loss.

Charles asked if the Paralympian was "still taking part in games and sports", to which Henson joked he was "a touch too old".

"I did the Invictus Games in 2014 and 2016, Paralympics in 2016 and I stayed one of the trustees of the Invictus Games until the end of 2023 – so I've certainly been involved with it," Henson told His Majesty.

"I'm back in the defence industry now."

The Invictus Games was created by Charles' son Prince Harry in 2014 and His Majesty gave a one-word reply.

"Fantastic," the King said.

Harry's patronage of the Invictus Games Foundation was one of the few the Duke of Sussex was allowed to keep when he left his role as a senior working royal in 2020 and remains a cause close to his heart.
