Princess Rajwa and Crown Prince Hussein leave hospital with their baby girl, share first family of three photos

Jordan's Crown Prince Hussein and his wife Princess Rajwa have left hospital with their baby girl, who has become the country's newest princess.

Princess Iman bint Al Hussein was born on August 3 inside the King Hussein Medical Centre in Amman.

As Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa departed the hospital, the proud parents thanked staff who had cared the family.

"Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated personnel of the Royal Medical Services for their exceptional care over Rajwa and Iman during the past few days," Crown Prince Hussein said.

He posted new photos of himself with Rajwa and Iman, including one of the royal baby sleeping soundly in a capsule.

They were the first official photos of the new family of three.

Crown Prince Hussein carried his baby to the car inside the capsule, walking hand-in-hand with Rajwa who waved at the waiting media.

Hussein, who is heir to the throne after his father King Abdullah II, showed off his baby girl hours after her birth. He posted a photo of Iman being cradled by her grandfather the king.

"Praise be to God for His abundant blessings," Hussein said alongside the photo.

"We are immensely grateful for the safe birth of our daughter and the health of my beloved wife, Rajwa.

"Our heartfelt thanks to our family and the Jordanian people for their kind wishes, which deeply touched us during these special moments."

The Royal Hashemite Court announced the baby's birth alongside a clip of Crown Prince Hussein holding his daughter and whispering a prayer in Arabic.

In an official statement the palace said: "The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein were blessed, on 3 August 2024, with a baby girl they named Iman.

"The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations and best wishes to Their Royal Highnesses and to Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah on this happy occasion.

"Their Royal Highnesses are immensely overjoyed and thankful on welcoming their firstborn, and call on well-wishers to consider donating to Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans in lieu of sending gifts or flowers."

Queen Rania, the baby's grandmother, proudly shared a number of photos on her official Instagram page with the caption, "Iman, you've already got a hold of my heart. Our family has never been happier".

The photos showed the royal family visiting baby Iman in hospital.

The little one is named after Crown Prince Hussein's younger sister, Princess Iman, 27.

Hussein's other siblings – Princess Salma, 23, and Prince Hashem, 19 – were also photographed meeting their baby niece.

Although Princess Iman is the daughter of a future king, she is not in the line of succession for the Hashemite dynasty, the royal family who have ruled Jordan since 1921.

Instead, the throne will pass from Crown Prince Hussein to his younger brother Prince Hashem unless he and Rajwa have a son.

Crown Prince Hussein married Saudi Arabian-born architect Rajwa Al-Saif in a spectacular royal wedding attended by hundreds of royals and VIPs from across the world on June 1, 2023.

The bride and groom married at the Zahran Palace in Amman before the celebrations moved to the Al Husseiniya Palace, the official residence of the royal family, for the wedding reception.

Among the guests were Britain's Prince and Princess of Wales, who have long been close with Jordan's royal family, and Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Denmark's then-Crown Princess Mary and then-Crown Prince Frederik were there, as were Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Norway's Crown Prince Haakon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, plus a number of others from Asia and beyond.
