Melania Trump described as 'elegant, beautiful, regal' at White House spouse luncheon

Melania Trump has hosted a luncheon for the spouses of cabinet members at the White House.

It was left to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin's wife, Scottish actress Louise Linton, 39, to toast the First Lady.

A photo of the moment has been shared on Linton's Instagram account.

It shows the actress standing and facing a smiling Melania, 50, at the luncheon.

The caption posted with the photo reads: "There is no one more elegant, beautiful, regal, and kind than our stunning First Lady, Melania. Her poise, grace, and strength touch and inspire me."

Catharine Cypher, who works for the First Lady as the director of media affairs, also tweeted a photo of the event.

"@FLOTUS was delighted to host a luncheon for Cabinet Spouses at the @WhiteHouse today. She & @POTUS are grateful for their continued friendship," she wrote.

Linton has been a staunch defender of both US President Donald Trump and Melania during their time in the White House, taking to Instagram and Twitter to defend the pair.

In response to further criticism posted in response to this latest Instagram post, Linton defended the First Lady once more.

One Trump critic took issue with Linton's choice of words to describe Melania, in particular that she is "kind".

"Kind? Excuses locking kids in cages. I don't call that kind," they wrote.

Linton quickly responded: "SHE didn't lock kids in cages. SHE returned from her visit to the border and demanded an end to the horrid practice. Get your facts straight."

The Trumps attended Mnuchin and Linton's wedding in in 2017. The couple reportedly met through mutual friends.

Linton has promoted some of Trump's policies on her social media accounts, including the moment he signed a bill making animal cruelty illegal in the US.
