Mary Fowler shares empowering video after recovering from knee surgery and walking at Paris Fashion Week

Matildas star and Manchester City player Mary Fowler has had a trying few months recovering from ACL knee surgery earlier this year.

The 22-year-old sports star injured her ACL when playing in the FA Cup.

And now, Fowler, who is dating NRL star Nathan Cleary, 27, has shared an empowering video of her recovery journey and how it led to her walking the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week about a week ago.

Sharing video of herself with crutches and a bandaged knee following surgery, the athlete was seen taking small steps as she began her recovery.

She soon was seen in a gym with her strength coming back, before confidently walking at the Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris show.

"How it started. How it's going. A lil reminder to celebrate your progress," Fowler captioned her clip.

In her caption, she added: "A crazy, blessed little life."

The clip got more than 31,000 likes and fans flooded her post with comments underneath, with one saying it was "inspirational".

Just over a week ago, at the end of last month, Fowler stormed the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

The Australian soccer player walked the runway for the very first time, making her fashion week debut at the Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris show.

Despite no doubt some nerves, the Cairns-born athlete looked incredible as she strutted her stuff, joining names including Helen Mirren and Kendall Jenner on the runway.

Fowler, a L'Oréal Paris brand ambassador, oozed confidence as she walked down the runway in a chic black outfit.

Before the event, she said: "This will be my first time walking a runway, and while it's a little outside of my comfort zone, the opportunity to walk alongside extraordinary women in a celebration of women's empowerment, inclusion, and sisterhood is truly inspiring."

Her boyfriend, Penrith Panthers star Nathan Cleary, 27, just a few weeks ago made an appearance on the Today show and was asked about her runway appearance.

As images of Fowler doing a photoshoot flashed up on screen, he remarked: "She does look beautiful.

"She's very nervous actually about walking down the runway, she's been trying to get on FaceTime and show me her catwalk, but I said just be natural and make sure you show a smile because its beautiful."

"So I'm really pumped for her to do that, she's really excited and it should be good."
