Husband writes extensive list of bathroom rules for his wife

Imogen Dewey

A husband left his wife of eight years an incredibly extensive letter containing some 'rules' for the bathroom. And let's just say it was, er, forceful.

Fair enough, some say. A marriage saver, even. Passive aggressive, say others. Why not just, you know, mention it in person?

Well, apparently he tried that too.

The letter was originally posted to ABC Brisbane's Facebook page this week. Since then, it's received several hundred likes and over two hundred comments – people have a lot of feelings about this one.

And the debate is still rolling.

"To my darling Rosie," the letter began. (It was a very affectionate letter.)

Rosie's husband recounted their confrontation a few weeks earlier, where Rosie apparently promised to change.

"In fact, it's worse," he wrote, "to the point that I now suffer from Bathroom Surprise Anxiety."

He ran through a list of general grievances (mainly drawer- and storage-related), and then got into specifics.

Like, really got into specifics.

The letter ran through each item Rosie had 'interfered with', and provided helpful suggestions as to how she could be less of an untidy monster.

Toothpaste: You can probably imagine this one for yourself.

Then, his hair paste.

"This is a male hair product," he wrote, "and yet I continually find your paw prints inside it with lid of course nowhere to be found, so when I need to use it, it is like a cross between a panel beaters bog and and polyspak filler."

Then, his deodorant. "3 words, Use Your Own!!!"

Razor: Ditto. Towels: Well, let's say they weren't exactly being put neatly away. Neither was the bathroom bin being emptied.

In a final fit of fury, Rosie's husband shared some choice words about the flush.

"Contrary to your belief that flush is the term describing a winning hand in poker, the Flush is also a plumbing term. Look it up. Practice it."

And then the letter ended, with a heartfelt plea.

"I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH - PLEASE CHANGE BATHROOM HABITS"

He signed it in pen (and yes, the whole thing was typed, formatted and printed out), "YOUR HUSBAND".

Despite some heated feedback from the general public, it all ended well for the couple themselves – and the letter may have even done some good.

"It's more a written warning, and I can put my hand on my heart and say it's my first written warning from my current husband," Rosie (aka PR rep Kath Rose) told ABC Brisbane.

"I'd like to think it's my first and final," she added.
