The $7 Kmart solution for storing a tricky pantry staple also saves shelf space

The pantry is one of the hardest spaces in the home to get right when it comes to storage, especially when you have countless dried herbs and spice jars to contend with.

While there are many spice jar storage units out there, you can often end up with jars falling over, being hard to reach or hard to find.

Kmart may have the solution to neat spice storage and the best part is it doesn't take up any shelf space at all.

A shopper named Abby showed how well the $7 under shelf spice rack works in her pantry in a TikTok video.

"Such a space saver and so neat and tidy," she said.

Abby has used two of the under shelf spice racks. In the video, you can see how easily it slides out to reveal seven jars in each.

In a fun detail for those watching closely, Abby has organised her jars by store brand with Coles herbs and spices in one rack and Woolworths branded ones in the other.

Those who watched the video loved the product and were keen to get it for their own pantries.

"The speed I sent this to my husband should be a record breaker," a woman said.

"I don't need that. But I need that!" one commented.

"i need someone to tell me if the Aldi spices fit in these," a shopper wrote.

"Ooohhh that is just beautiful," another posted.

Some wondered how well it would hold up if you need to grab a jar quickly.

"Does it also work when you're in a hurry," a woman asked.

Abby responded, "hahahaha they're pretty sturdy!!"

But herb and spice jars aren't the only things you can put in this under shelf rack, according to one mum.

"This is for hiding my Twix from the kids," she said.

The under shelf spice rack is listed as "just landed" on Kmart's website, which means it's a recent release so there are no customer reviews on the product page yet. It measures 8.5cm high, 32cm wide and 13.5cm deep.

"It has a unique design which utilises unused space beneath the shelf. It is perfect for storing smaller items without cluttering your main shelves," the product description said. "It comes with an easy pull-out compartment with drawer stop. The integrated drawer stop keeps it securely in place while in use."

If the under shelf rack doesn't suit your pantry or organisation style there are plenty of other options to choose from at Kmart.

Products include the two-tier rotating spice rack for $15, a 16-piece jar set with stand for $19 and a three-tier shelf for $5.

There are also two different options for people who like to decant spices and dried herbs in jars that they then label themselves; the set of six square spice jars with tray for $15 and the six pack glass jars with wood tray for $14.
