Professional cleaner reveals the unlikely item adding extra time to your bathroom cleaning routine
We'd all love cleaning the bathroom to be quicker and easier and it could be possible just by switching out some bathroom accessories.
A professional cleaner has revealed in a TikTok post the five things she'd never have in her bathroom after discovering firsthand the extra time they take to clean.
However, one item on the list was particularly surprising to those who watched her slideshow.

That accessory is bath mats, which Sparkle and Shine Cleaning referred to as bath mat sets, which is considered a must for the bathroom.
"Usually gross. Just adds an extra step to your cleaning routine," she wrote in the caption.
People were left wondering what to use instead seeing as bath mats are a must when getting out of the shower or bath.
"The bathroom mat thing sent me," a woman said to which another replied, "Right because what else r u suppose to use LOL."

Some suggested using a towel bath mat instead but that needs washing just as often as the non-slip mats.
To make cleaning bath mats quick and easy you can simply toss them in the wash with your towels once a week.
But if, like the professional cleaner, you'd like to skip that step and save a bit of time you can try a stone bath mat which is supposed to dry quickly and therefore have less bacteria and mould buildup.
One bath mat you don't need at all is the toilet pedestal bath mat, which collects all the germs and urine that can end up outside the toilet bowl. So definitely save time by tossing that out.
If you'd like less dust in your bathroom and therefore less dusting to do, Sparkle and Shine Cleaning recommends not having acrylic shelves in the space.
"Dust collectors. Open storage just isn't smart if you want your house to look clean," she said.
Another dust trap is storage above the toilet, according to the cleaner.
"Just get a cabinet. You will hate looking at [the above-toilet storage] because all you'll see is dust," they said.

Then there are the things that add a lot more time to your bathroom cleaning routine.
Sparkle and Shine Cleaning named hexagon tiles as a bad option for the bathroom and it makes complete sense.
"So many grout lines to scrub. Looks so bad if not taken care of," they said.
The other bathroom item the cleaner said adds more time to your cleaning routine is adhesive shelving in the shower.
"If you ever move have fun removing these. Takes so long and just not worth it," they explained.

In the comment section another professional cleaner added fake plants to the list because of the amount of dust they collect.
There was plenty of agreement with the list, except for the bath mats as no alternative was suggested in the TikTok post.
"This is so true tho! I clean beach house rentals and do they get dusty!" one said.
"As another professional cleaner, I approve this message," a cleaner commented.
"Yeah I got the acrylic shelves and they collect dust within a few days after cleaning hard no," a woman said.

Some, however, said they're happy to have those things and just commit to the extra cleaning needed.
"I love the cabinet over my toilet. I have a very small bathroom, and I gotta make the best of it," one wrote.
"I'm keeping my mats for safety. I'm keeping my over the toilet storage so I don't put extra holes in my wall. I clean it myself," another commented.
