A caffeine enthusiast who forked out a whopping $20 for a Starbucks coffee on Uber Eats says she was delivered a confusing note instead.

TikToker Brittany wanted a cold brew coffee ordered to her home, so she tolerated a US$20 ($26) fee to have it sent via the food delivery giant.

After waiting for it to arrive, the American woman was left baffled when a note was tucked inside her Uber Eats bag instead.

"I just ordered Uber Eats coffee, and the order arrived, it was feeling a little light, there's a note in it saying: 'Oh no, we seem to be out of cold brew, please contact your delivery provider for a refund'," she said in a video.

"Why would they deliver me this? An empty bag? Why wouldn't they just give me another coffee option? Or something for free? I just spent $20 to get this delivered and I have no coffee. I'm losing it."

Brittany captioned her video — which has nearly 15,000 views — with: "I can't make this s--t up. I don't understand."

Most of the woman's followers shared her outrage and told her to complain to Uber Eats.

"They can literally cancel the order and say they're unable to fulfil the order… girl you better squeeze them for more," one person wrote.

"I would absolutely cry! If I'm desperate enough to have coffee delivered/there's no coffee in my house and then this!!" another wrote.

Some of the comments mentioned their poor experiences with Uber Eats, including deliveries showing up with missing items and an empty cup being sent instead of a drink.

On its website, Uber Eats states that if an order is missing an item or it is out of stock, the entire order will be cancelled and the customer should be notified in-app.
