MrBeast burger backlash: Why the YouTube star's $28 Aussie menu item is under fire from disappointed fans
Aussie fans have been left stunned by the cost of a single burger at the new MrBeast Burger pop up store.
A MrBeast Burger pop up has opened at Westfield Chatswood in Sydney for a limited time only.
A single burger costs $20.90. That's the Beast Style burger, made with "two or three smashed, crispy beef patties seasoned with house seasoning, topped with melted American cheese, pickles, diced white onion, mayonnaise, ketchup, and brown mustard, all served on a toasted, soft bun".

If you add fries and a drink to it, it will cost $27.90.
A MrBeast Chicken Sandwich costs $19.90 on its own. Make it a meal and that will also set you back $27.90, the same price as a MrBeast Beast Style burger meal, despite the chicken sandwich costing less than a MrBeast Beast burger.

A Mr Beast Nashville Hot Chicken Tender is $20.90, and $27.90 with fries and a drink.
A single fries costs $6.90. A drink costs $5.50 on its own and a bottle of water is $5.80.

Customers have taken to Reddit to express their shock at food prices at the pop up store.
One labelled it "overpriced garbage".
"Five Guys prices. MrBeast prices: Hold my beer," one commented.
"His fans are going to need a lot more pocket money to afford that," another said.
"Apart from the pricing, I also object to calling a chicken burger a sandwich," one Redditor pointed out.
"Saw it the other day, paying that much to eat out of what is essentially a renovation site in a Westfield is a joke," added another.
MrBeast Burgers opened its first Australian location via a pop up store in Bondi Junction in July 2023.
Back then, customers were queuing up for their chance to sample the food on offer by the YouTube star.
Back then, MrBeast's popularity was growing quickly, thanks to a series of stunts that went viral, including videos featuring large-scale stunts, massive cash giveaways, elaborate challenges (like real-life Squid Game), and high-budget philanthropic acts, earning him the title of the world's most popular YouTuber.

He has launched several product collaborations include MrBeast Burgers, Feastables chocolates in 2022 and more recently, a beef jerky product, launched in partnership with protein snack brand Jack Link.
Jack Link's x MrBeast W.T.F! Beef Jerky and Beef Sticks landed in Woolworths, 7-Eleven, petrol and convenience stores, and other independent retailers across Australia this month.

Additional locations on top of Bondi Junction and Chatswood have included Darlinghurst, Cronulla, Campbelltown, and Rosemeadow in NSW, and Victoria Point in Qld, as well as locations in Victoria.
The full menu is also available on Uber Eats and DoorDash in the delivery range of each location.

Comments on the MrBeast Burgers Australia Instagram account include multiple complaints over the quality of the burgers being served.
"Unfortunately this was the worst burger I've ever purchased in my life, would love a refund such a rip off," one person commented.
"Cronulla don't waste your time or money worse burger I've ever had," another said.
"0/10 disgusting and inedible. Literally could not finish it if you paid me. Do not waste your money !! Bloody disgrace, us Aussies won't support this rubbish," added another.

Still, they must be doing something right, with MrBeast Burgers planning more pop up locations across the country and featuring fans singing its praises in social media videos featured on its official channels.
"This is delicious," one said.
"It's really good," another said.
"Probably the best burger I've tried this year," one young fan added.

MrBeast – whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson – is the world's most-subscribed-to YouTube creator, who is known for elaborate pranks and massive giveaways.
He currently has more than 460m YouTube subscribers and has announced plans to open his own theme park in Saudi Arabia which will be known as Beast Land.
MrBeast Burger pop ups normally run for a few months at one location before moving to a new one.
