Minoli De Silva debunks major kitchen myth with her simple three ingredient dough recipe
Have you ever wondered why there's so many different dough recipes?
You've got one recipe for noodle dough, another for pizza dough, a different one for making dumplings and the list goes on.
Well, as it turns out, it's all a scam. According to chef Minoli De Silva, there's only one dough recipe you need, and it uses just three ingredients you probably already have at home.

De Silva shared the simple dough hack she uses "basically every single week" to make everything from dumplings to tortillas.

Now, if you have a stand mixer with a dough attachment, pull that out onto the bench. If you don't, don't stress, you can still follow the recipe – you're just going to need some hand-eye coordination and a little more time.
Start with 350g of flour in your mixing bowl, along with a pinch of salt.
Next, you're going to need 245g of boiling water. If you ever need to adjust the recipe measurements, always remember that you need 70 per cent of the weight of flour in boiling water.
Then, steadily pour your boiling water into the flour mixture while kneading on low setting with your mixer, or slowly by hand.
Once the water and flour are combined, pick the speed up to high and knead until tacky. For those using a mixer, this should take just a few minutes but if you're working by hand you'll probably need another 15 minutes.
Then, flip your dough out onto the bench in a ball and rub a tiny pinch of oil around the outside, then place in a bowl, cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

Now, we're at the fun part.
Here's where you get to decide what you want to make! De Silva shares her four favourite ways to use the dough; noodles, roti, tortillas and dumplings.
For noodles all you need to do is cut the dough into slices, cover in oil and let it rest again and then slowly it pull apart while slapping against a hard surface.
Next, just pop it in boiling water and you've got delicious biang biang noodles.

For roti bread, flatten the dough out with your fingers and fold in on itself, roll it out into a little ball, and flatten with a rolling pin.
Cover it in oil and pop it in a frying pan for some flaky homemade roti.

If it's taco night, you can use the dough to make flour tortillas.
All you have to do is flatten the dough into a circle shape and then place into a clean, hot pan with no oil. Once it starts to bubble flip it over, and then you're ready to add your fillings!
And finally, you can use the dough to make some fresh dumplings!

Simply flatten into a small circle with your fingers – make sure it's thick enough to hold your fillings – pop whatever filling you want on one side, close the dumpling and pinch the top together in pleats and voila!
Now just pop the dumplings into a pan with half a cup of water and a pinch of oil, cover and let cook until you hear the oil sizzling, then take the lid off and let them cook until fried on the bottom.
So there you have it, those are just four of the delicious homemade meals you can make with a simple three ingredient dough!
