A popular chocolate box that was discontinued in 2024 to much outcry is making a triumphant return to supermarket shelves.

Celebrations chocolates are back, just in time for Father's Day (September 7).

Mars Wrigley, the makers of Celebrations, shared the news with 9honey Kitchen today, citing consumer demand.

It was in November 2024, just weeks before Christmas, that Mars Wrigley confirmed the decision to discontinue the Celebrations brand in Australia.

They told 9honey Kitchen at the time: "Our Celebrations products were imported from Europe, and like many Australian businesses importing products from overseas, we are experiencing rising cost-pressures and supply challenges.

"Late last year, we made the difficult decision to discontinue the Celebrations brand in Australia.

"However, we know Celebrations is a much-loved brand that plays a role at many family gatherings, events, and of course, celebrations. Therefore, we are currently reviewing options to reintroduce Celebrations in 2025.

"We hope to have positive news to share with Australian consumers over the coming months."

Thankfully, the result of that review has been to return the range Down Under.

Ben Hill, Mars Wrigley Marketing Director, tells 9honey Kitchen: "The consumer response demanding the return of Celebrations last year was incredible, so we are thrilled to bring Celebrations back to supermarket shelves around the country.

"For decades, Celebrations has featured prominently at family gatherings, events, and of course, celebrations of all kinds. We can't wait for everyone to enjoy them again, and for hopefully many years to come.

"Launching back in market from mid-July 2025 at $16 RRP, expect to see Celebrations across all major retailers, just in time for Father's Day.

"Whether it's Xmas in July, Father's Day in September, or Diwali in October - there are so many reasons for you to join the Celebration!"

Although a quick check of our local Coles and Woolworths stores failed to find Celebrations chocolate boxes. The Coles website has them listed as "currently unavailable" and they are "out of stock" on the Woolworths website.

They are, however, available at Kmart both in store and online, with Mars Wrigley telling 9honey Kitchen "retailing will start with Kmart and then flow through into grocery retailers like Coles and Woolies closer to Father's Day".

Woolworths will stock Celebrations "from next week" and Coles is scheduled to have them on shelves by "mid-August".

It also isn't known if the chocolates will be back in the instantly recognisable 692g round plastic container that, once emptied, made for a perfect sewing kit.

The latest iteration of Celebrations saw them packaged in a rectangular 320g box.

2GB's Ben Fordham first announced Celebrations had been discontinued in Australia.

"Oh no, no, no. You know those Celebrations chocolates? ... Well, they're gone. We've noticed that they've disappeared from the shelves," the radio host said on his show Ben Fordham Live.

Fordham then called up TikToker Russ Eats, who last year ranked Christmas chocolates, with Celebrations coming out on top with the number one spot.

"Usually I get tipped off, but I was trying to buy them for early Christmas presents, couldn't find them anywhere, and I was like, 'Nah, surely it's not this'," he said.

"I've done some investigating and found they were gone, so I've had to go for some sub-par Chrissy present for the family."

In 2022, Mars Wrigley responded to claims the Bounty bar had been removed from Celebrations after reports of Bounty-free share packs in the UK as part of a trial.

A spokesperson said at the time: "Confirming there will not be Limited Edition 'No Bounty' Celebration boxes in Australia. Australian Celebrations will continue to have Bounty in them," a spokesperson from the company iterated.
