'Where have they gone???': Popular Aldi treat goes 'missing'

Aldi lovers have been in a panic after one of the discount grocery retailer's most delicious treats disappeared from shelves.

Belmont European Palazzo biscuits, which retail for $2.99, went missing earlier this year, with fans sharing their attempts to find them.

"Where have they gone???" one shared on Reddit.

"Hi everyone, I have desperately trying to find these in a number of Aldi stores to no avail. Where are they? Where have they gone? What do I do?" they wrote.

"They were really good and I am now VERY sad they're (seemingly) gone."

One Redditer attempted a joke, saying: "They're in a better Palazzo now."

This, however fell flat with the biscuit lovers seeking out the budget favourite.

"If they're gone it's because they were too good for this world," another said.

"Omg I've missed these so much from Ireland.... I need them. Butter biscuits!" one said.

"I forgot about these! They slap. I need to go get some."

Aldi Palazzo biscuits are described as a "butter biscuit with chocolate" and used to be available in both milk and dark chocolate varieties.

One Redditer reminded the thread that Aldi products sometimes "disappear", only to reappear in new packaging down the track.

"Yeah they run out periodically but they have always been restocked so far," one said.

Which is exactly what happened with these delicious treats.

Belmont European Palazzo biscuits were simply undergoing a redesign.

Aldi Australia told 9honey Kitchen: "ALDI's biscuit range is popular among our customers and the Palazzo Milk Chocolate Biscuits is a crowd favourite!

"While the packaging has had a minor refresh, the product remains on shelves and as delicious as ever."

An Aldi worker added on Reddit: "Aldi worker here, the package has changed ☺️ they are on the bottom shelf in the biccy section usually."

Sure enough, there they were, back in Aldi stores in a new gold package replacing the previous blue.

Aldi biscuit lovers were overjoyed at the news.

"You are a saint. Thank you so much!!! Day made," one said.

"I live nearby one and went there about 1 hour ago, near the bottom of the biscuit section near the speculaas biscuits," another confirmed.

Talk soon turned to how delicious they are, with 9honey Kitchen sampling them too.

We visited our local Aldi to confirm the biscuit's return and purchased four packets, which we ate all of in under an hour.

Praise included appreciation for the ratio of chocolate to biscuit, which appears to be perfectly equal.

Others commented on how "smooth" the chocolate was and how it perfectly paired with the buttery biscuit.

This week Aldi announced a trial partnership with DoorDash, meaning fans of Belmont Europeaen Palazzo biscuits can have them delivered to their doors!

But only if they live in Canberra, where the trial is taking place.

There are plans to roll the partnership out nationally, and Aldi fans are counting down the days.
