Australia’s best supermarket yoghurt wins crown for fourth year running

Victorian brand Gippsland has been crowned Australia’s favourite supermarket yoghurt, earning the 2026 Most Satisfied Customers Award from consumer group Canstar for the fourth consecutive year running.
The local product was awarded a full five stars for overall satisfaction, taste, texture, and variety and range, but lost two stars for value for money as it is on the pricier side, at $3.10 for a single 160g tub.

Gippsland yoghurt is famous for its scrumptious flavours which include Choc Fudge Honeycomb, Strawberry Waffle, Toffee & Honeycomb, and Cookies & Cream.
Eden Radford from Canstar told nine.com.au that standing out was not easy on busy shelves.
“Standing out in a crowded supermarket fridge is no easy task, but Gippsland has proven to be a consistent favourite among shoppers, taking out the Most Satisfied Customers Award for the fourth consecutive year,” Radford said.

In second place, a more affordable option for consumers in Aldi’s Brooklea yoghurt which earned five stars for overall satisfaction and value for money, and four stars for taste and texture, as well as three stars for variety and range. A single 170g tub of Aldi’s Brooklea yoghurt costs just $1.99.
Farmers Union landed in third spot, earning five stars for overall satisfaction, taste, and texture, and four stars for value for money and variety and range. Farmers Union costs $7 for a four pack which is $1.75 per tub.
Jalna Pot Set yoghurt was named the fourth best supermarket yoghurt, followed by Dairy Farmers in fifth place, Activia in sixth spot, and then Chobani in seventh place.
Tasmanian brand Tamar Valley made it to eighth place, Aldi Lyttos in ninth, Aldi Yoghuri placed 10th, then Woolworths brand in 11th place, followed by Yoplait, Coles brand, Vaalia and Cocobella.
Canstar surveyed 2,397 Australians to find out which is their favourite yoghurt brand purchased and eaten in the last three months.

32 per cent of those surveyed said they always purchase the same brand of yoghurt, 39 per cent always purchase yoghurt when it is on special, 10 per cent opt for whichever yoghurt brand is cheapest, and 55 per cent have sampled yoghurt from multiple different brands.
Seven per cent admitted they often have to throw yoghurt out because they haven’t eaten it before the expiry date.
20 per cent of those surveyed said the health star ratings are an important factor when they choose their yoghurt, and 50 per cent eat yoghurt for its nutritional value, although 39 per cent stopped short at choose higher protein yoghurts.

The most popular yoghurt size Australians purchase is larger tubs, with over half (54 per cent) opting for that size, followed by 20 per cent who choose individual tubs.
38 per cent of shoppers add berries and muesli to their yoghurt, and buy it every week during their grocery run.
