If you like a touch of *drama* in your wardrobe, you’re in luck: one of the biggest emerging trends in fashion is perfect for sashaying through the world.

Fringing is popping up absolutely everywhere, from red carpets to your local shopping centre, attached to everything from tops to handbags and dresses – and celebrities are leading the charge.

Over the weekend, Amal Clooney put a sophisticated spin on the trend, attending the 2026 Albie Awards in a sparkling gold gown with metallic fringe details.

The bodice of the Gucci gown was decked out in sequins, but at the waistline they morphed into layers of beaded fringing that continued down to the floor.

It was nothing short of dazzling.

Clooney isn’t the only star in her flapper era.

Olivia Dean is currently touring Australia, bringing her trademark romantic, feminine fashion aesthetic – including fringing – to the stage.

The Man I Need singer has been well ahead of the trend, wearing fringed dresses for many of her memorable stage and red carpet appearances over the past year, including the 2025 ARIA Awards and the 2026 Brit Awards.

The tasselled look is so intrinsic to Dean’s style, many of her Aussie fans have incorporated it into their concert outfits (alongside polka dots) during her tour.

Fringing was also in full flight at the various Fashion Week events held over the last month.

From thick fabric strips to fine fringing, and fully-fringed skirts to wraparound details on dresses and jackets, everyone had a different take on the look.
