Lunch boxes are notorious for coming home with half the contents still in them.
Half the battle is competing with play time and the other half is packing food that they'll actually want to eat.
This can be hard when you're on a tight budget that makes it tricky to afford all the latest lunch box accessories.
But a bargain Kmart buy has come to the rescue which not only has an insulated lunch bag with a cool design, it also contains every possible accessory you need for just $10.

The 10 piece sets come in dinosaur, unicorn and tie dye designs with one insulated case with easy-clean PEVA lining that keeps food hot or cold for longer, one spork, one sandwich box, one 500ml bottle, two ice gel packs, two food pouches, and two 200ml snack pots
This means lunch stays chilled throughout the school day and you can pack a lunch using larger packs of food.
Starting with recess and other snacks, the pots are great for fruit like chopped strawberries, blueberries, grapes and cherry tomatoes and yoghurt or hummus scooped from a larger tub.

The pots can also store cheese and crackers, or the crackers can go in one of the pouches.
Options for the large pouch include plain popcorn, dry cereal, carrot sticks, snap peas and small baked treats in the large pouch.
The small pouch can fit crackers, biscuits and smaller amounts of the previously mentioned foods.

Ideas for sandwiches in the sandwich box are vegemite and cheese or avocado, ham (if your school allows it) or chicken with cheese and/or lettuce, egg and avocado and tomato and cheese (just put the tomato slices in one of the pots for your child to add later so the bread doesn't go soggy).
If you and your child are really adventurous take inspiration from the sandwiches my dad used to make me using leftovers from the previous night's dinner.
My favourite was spaghetti Bolognese and cheese, but chicken, potato and veggies with cheese and a pinch of salt was also lovely. He even made a sandwich using takeaway Chinese chicken and cashew stir fry and it actually worked! Seriously!
Mini pizzas made the night before are a fun alternative to sandwiches. Getty
But it doesn't have to be a sandwich in the sandwich box.
Try cold mini pizzas by using English muffin halves or sandwich thins, tomato paste, ham, cheese and if your child is willing diced veggies or pineapple. Two of these packed in the container should do the trick.
A zucchini slice or quiche is another great option and can be made thin enough to fit sandwich containers.
Carrot sticks are a perfect lunch box snack and you can even add hummus to a snack pot for dipping. Getty
The final thing to do before packing the bags the following morning is to get the ice packs out of the freezer and pop them in the bag.
A great hack is to half fill the drink bottle with water and add the rest of the water in the morning so the drink stays nice and cool for longer.
All that possibility and versatility in one $10 lunch set sounds so good I'm thinking of getting one myself for days in the office.
