Grandma's blunt advice for grandparents going over the top with gifts
It's a really special thing to see your parents going above and beyond with your kids and embracing their grandparent role.
But it's safe to say there are many out there who like to go a little bit over the top when it comes to gift giving and will use any excuse to buy the kids something new.
It can be hard as a parent to say "don't buy them anything today" or "only one present for birthdays and Christmas" and for them to actually respect that.

DeeDee Moore has got some blunt advice for grandparents going over the top with gifts for their grandkids. tiktok
But thankfully one grandma has got some advice for this common problem, and she wants the grandparents out there to listen up, especially before Christmas.
DeeDee Moore, who runs the TikTok account @morethangrand got blunt about this issue.
"Too much stuff from grandparents is at the top of the list of topics that parents struggle with," Moore explained in a viral clip.
A recent survey from More Than Grand found 75 per cent of the parents surveyed, wished grandparents respected their wishes about gifts, for a few reasons, but the most common was the sheer volume of stuff.
"Parents often don't have the physical space to accommodate the toys indulgent grandparents buy," she continued.

Sure giving presents to your grandkids is wonderful, but there's a good reason to not go over the top. Getty
But the issue is that one grandparent probably isn't the only one going all out on gifts.
"Say your grandson has four other grandparents and four aunts and uncles. Each of these people get him one gift for a second birthday. That's already nine gifts plus something for mum and dad. We're up to 10," she explained.
"But if all of those grandparents buy him three things, and two of the aunts get him a little extra something, that's 22 presents for a two-year-old who would be just as happy with a box."
Moore pointed out that while your grandchildren are being faced with getting too many gifts, there are a lot of kids out there going through the opposite.
Her advice is to take some of the things you would have given to your grandchildren and donate them to a charity or organisation who works with less fortunate families.

The video hit close to home for a lot of mums who have been in this situation. tiktok
Plenty of mums in the comments shared their own stress about this situation with too many gifts.
"I used to have so much anxiety about Christmas because my in-laws used to buy more than Santa, us and my parents combined. It was stressful," commented one mum.
And if the conversation about donating toys instead doesn't work, one mum found a way to get the big gifts to stop.
"My parents and sister are notorious for buying multiple LARGE gifts (ball pit, tent, ride-on car). What put a stop: 'Thanks! We'll leave it at your house for when she comes over!" she commented.
