Parents who are deep in Elf on the Shelf, how are you doing? We're nine days in and almost at the halfway mark.

For the parents who are doing it for the first time, it might have been a real shock and a bit of learning on the job as you try to wrangle that cheeky little Elf into position every night.

But thankfully, a mum has shared a tip online for making that easier and even she's branded it a gamechanger.

Want your Elf on thee Shelf to be more sturdy? Mum Tori has a genius tip that even she said she wishes she knew about sooner. Instagram/@toribreen

The difficult thing about the Elf is the arms are floppy, meaning you can't really get them into the big creative positions we've become used to seeing online.

But this is where Tori's hack comes in – and all you need is a few paperclips.

A pack of 150 will cost you around $2.60 and the first thing you need to do is straighten a couple of them out.

Then you thread them through the arms and even the legs of your Elf and ta-da, you've got yourself an Elf with limbs that can move around, hold onto things and are much more stable.

Just make sure you trim off any extra bits of the clip hanging out to avoid anyone getting stabbed by them.

"Elf hack I wish I knew sooner," she captioned the clip of herself performing the paperclip surgery on the Elf.

The comments were filled with other parents doing Elf on the Shelf whose minds were blown by the simple tip.

"Oh my god😭😭 how have we not all thought about this😭," commented one.

Another replied, "YES! Why don't they already have this?!?!"

Others were just amazed you don't even have to open up the stitching to make it work, rather just slide the paperclip through the seams.
