Some people have had their heart set on specific baby names since they were little.

It might be inspiration from a movie or a name you just loved, but does the name still hold up when you actually go to have kids later in life? Well, one person asked that and the answers do not disappoint.

While some people proved you can love names for your whole life before using them, others couldn't be more relieved their younger selves never had to name kids.

"Did you name children the names you came up when you were young?" they wrote.

"When growing up and saying what name/s you would name future children. When you had the children did you use those names or had you outgrown them?

"If you didn't use the name, what would your children have been named if you did name them?"

There were a lot of people who are so happy that they didn't end up with their choices.

"I haven't got a child yet but the childhood names I wanted to name my children were Jack and Rose. I didn't seem to think about the fact that they were lovers in Titanic…" wrote one person.

Another commented, "I wanted triplet girls and my plan was to name them Alimarice, Malia, and Cytokenesis. I named my real life daughter none of those names."

"I loved Ocean but spelled Oshin. Now I would never dream of doing that to my child lol," replied another person.

One woman admitted she's so happy she didn't go with such 'unique' names for her kids now.

"When I was five I was frustrated that everyone had the same names (my sister's name is Emily and we're 90s kids) I was determined to name my children "door knob and window pane". I have two kids now and thankfully went with names that were a lot less original," she wrote.

But then there were other people who were so set on their names, they stuck.

"Yes! I was obsessed with the name Liam growing up, and it's now my son's middle name," commented one mum.

Another replied, "I loved Felicity after the American Girl doll and yes, I did name my daughter Felicity."

"Sort of. I had always wanted to be a mum and picked one boy and one girl name out when I was a teenager for any future babies that I may have. My girl name always changed but my boys name never did and all these years later I got to use it," commented another mum.

And then there were some who had a 'theme' that stuck with them and helped find the perfect name.

"Not even a little bit. I did however always think names with a Z in them were cool. No idea why. So I have an Ezra," one woman added.
