An emergency worker in the US has helped a husband deliver his baby over the phone after his wife went into active labour and missed her chance to go to hospital.

Emergency worker Alyssa Eichholtz was working her regular shift for Hancock County's 911 emergency centre on October 21 when a call came in from Nathan Weiss saying his wife was delivering their child.

He told Eichholtz he could see his baby crowning and asked for help, seeing as the hospital was no longer a choice.
