Amy Shark has apologised for a controversial video on parenting that she has since deleted from TikTok.

During a recent flight, the 39-year-old Aussie singer, whose real name is Amy Louise Billings, filmed herself looking less than impressed by the sound of a crying baby nearby, captioned with a sarcastic "yay".

The I Said Hi hitmaker has shared a new video online, responding to the swift backlash she received.

"I'm so sorry guys, I'm gonna f--- up like this my whole life, just so you know," she started.

"But I'm really sorry to all the mums. I f---ing love mums, I love babies.

"When you don't have kids you see a crying baby behind you as a funny situation, but I know now, not a funny situation. At all."

Shark was slammed for the video, which showed her looking unimpressed and pouting as the baby behind her kicked off.

Commenters on TikTok accused her of being "unkind" and "rude" for not only filming the video, but sharing it with her 244k followers.

"As a mum flying with a baby soon, videos like this just increase anxiety for parents who are already trying their best," commented another person.

As a mum myself, when I first saw the video it just made me sad.

No one understands the stress, anxiety and pressure that comes with travelling young kids, especially babies, more than mums.

And I can guarantee you, while it's annoying and a bit frustrating to hear a screaming baby on your flight, there's no one who feels worse about it than the mum – or dad – trying their hardest to calm that baby down to no avail.

Babies have just as much of a right to exist in the world as everyone else, but spoiler, they can't really do much to explain what's going on or why they're upset.

So it's almost a bit hilarious that Shark was wearing what appeared to be expensive noise-cancelling headphones in the video, which would have made the experience a bit more bearable for her.

She could have just cranked up a podcast, put on a show or even listened to some music and relaxed, letting the noise-cancelling headphones do the hard work, because there's no way the parent consoling the screaming baby was getting a chance to do any of that.

On my last flight with my two-year-old I can safely say I didn't watch a second of the in-flight entertainment, or read more than five pages of my book, because I spent the whole time trying to keep her happy and prevent a meltdown.

Nothing gets people more fired up than talking about crying babies on planes, but here's hoping this apology makes other people realise that while it may be frustrating – for everyone – it's not funny.
