'We go up maybe five feet and then just stopped': Bride and groom miss their wedding reception after getting stuck in lift
A newlywed couple has missed their own wedding reception after becoming trapped in a hotel lift.
Victoria and Panay Jha had exchanged vows at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in early February when they entered the elevator to travel to the 16th floor for the reception.
"We go up maybe five feet and then just stopped," Panav later told WBTV.
"The door was slightly ajar, so I was like: 'Hmm, that's not normal.'"

The couple missed their wedding reception after they became trapped in a hotel lift. WBTV
Other members of the wedding party were trapped with the couple, including the bride's sister.
Charlotte Fire Department shared a post about the rescue operation.
"First, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jha on your wedding day," the Facebook post read.

"Although Charlotte Fire wasn't formally invited, we weren't exactly wedding crashers either. Early this morning, our crews responded to an elevator entrapment."
They explained six people were trapped in the hotel elevator "between the first and second floor."
"Firefighters rigged equipment to hoist those trapped up out of the elevator to the best access point on the fourth floor," the post continued.
"After the first person was recused, she said, 'Please get my sister out next, she's the one in the wedding dress.'
"All 6 who were pulled to safety were part of the Jha wedding party."
They ended the post by saying: "Thankfully, no one required medical attention. Mr. and Mrs. Jha, we hope today is the start of a long and happy life together."

The couple, who were freed after almost three hours in the lift, described the incident as an "experience."
"It's kind of like a blessing in disguise. I'd like to say I can't imagine if this was me alone or him alone, at least we got to spend it together, so that's what mattered," Victoria told WBTV.
