'Pretty scary': Ben Fordham's children recall painful beach encounter
Ben Fordham has shared a painful incident he and his children endured during a trip to the beach these school holidays.
The host of Ben Fordham Live on 2GB was joined by his three children, Freddie, eight, Pearl, seven, and Goldie, four, on the show this morning, with Pearl recalling the story on behalf of the family.
The encounter happened during a two-week trip to Avoca on the Central Coast.

"Me and Freddy and dad all got stung by a blue bottle when we were swimming in the ocean at Avoca," she said.
Fordham described the incident as "pretty scary".
Pearl said she was stung first "and then Freddie started screaming, so Dad swam towards him".

Although Freddie then interjected, saying he was stung before his sister.
"It was you [his dad], then me then Pearl," Freddie explained.
Freddie said it was Pearl who screamed the loudest after being stung.

It was the first time the kids had ever been stung by a blue bottle.
"It was pretty full on, wasn't it?" Fordham said.
"You're looking at your children and they're crying their eyes out. Well, not necessarily crying, but screaming," he explained to listeners.

"It was hurting me as well.
"I've just gotta stop them here and say, 'Listen, it's five minutes until we get home, we're going to have to really pull together here and be strong.'"
Fordham added that he was "really proud" of Freddie and Pearl for rallying.
When they got home, mum Jodie Speers "ran in the bathroom and turned on a hot shower, and then me and Freddie got in the shower," Pearl explained.
They stayed in the shower for "about 20 minutes".
Fordham then explained to his kids that the treatment for blue bottle stings used to be peeing on the affected area.
"What the?!" Freddie responded.
