This is one guy who actually deserves his World's Greatest Uncle mug, assuming he has one.
And if he doesn't, he bloody needs one.
Because when his nephew was celebrating his first birthday, this Nashville uncle put his body on the line to avert disaster.
During the ceremonial "baby mashes cake into face" photo op, the cake took a tumble.
The entire confection was falling to the dirt, which would have rendered it inedible.
But this uncle wasn't about to let a good cake go to waste, not on his watch.
Something inside him stirred, and he did something truly incredible.
With a heroic dive, he managed to save the culturally significant dessert from the clutches of doom.
No longer was he just an uncle, but he was a legend.
He triumphantly plonked the cake back on the highchair tray for a baby, who had no bloody idea what was going on.
But that's ok, because first birthday parties aren't really for the baby.
At this point babies are squeaky, nappy-filling blobs who are still learning to use their arms and legs - completely oblivious to the importance of the day.
No, the first birthday party is really a chance for the parents to proudly proclaim to the world that they somehow managed to keep another human alive for 12 months.
And if keeping an infant fed, safe and somewhat clean for a whole damn year isn't a feat worthy of a cake, we don't know what is.
So we hope the parents were able to enjoy a slice on that day.
God bless that uncle.
