Snake ruins Queensland driver's morning commute

And you thought your commute to work was a punish.

Check out this guy who for some reason thought today was his (or her – it’s not immediately obvious) day to get into the office early.  

These words will haunt Pickle for some time: "Now it’s looking right at me."

Because it is. Try holding that gaze is terrifying.

The encounter summoned up by six words: "I just can’t believe my day…"

For our international readers – look it does happen in this glorious sunburnt land occasionally. (Although worth noting this is in Townsville which is sits just outside the top-10 of Australia’s largest cities.)

In her own words: 

"I was driving and I saw the snake climbing over the bonnet of my car and heading straight for my face level at the windscreen.

"It was spitting with rain, but I don't like to hurt animals, even snakes. I kinda pulled over and panicked.

"Then the snaked turned and looked me straight in the eyes and poked it's tongue out at me and I started a little more panic cause I was running late and I didn't know how I was going to get out of the car.

"I drive at about 20km with my hazards lights on. I then called a couple of work colleagues and someone came to my rescue.

"He got out of his car, laughed a lot, took some photos of me stuck, then picked the snake up and took it across the road to a tree near the golf course."
